Hi and Welcome to the D. Ramirez Gear Review, Episode #1.
In conjunction with Data Transmission, every month I plan to review a new piece of equipment that either I have started using in my studio or I think you need to know about.
In this, the 1st Episode, I have chosen to review the DSI Prophet 08 -
The Prophet 08 truly signals the return of the classic Sequential Circuits Prophet synthesizers, in a modern and beautiful way - its an ultra-stable programmable analog synthesizer!
I will be online here at the forum discussing the DSI Prophet 08 with anyone that wants any more info or has questions etc.
Hope you enjoy.

First post, on this new forum, woooo!
Enjoyed the video, good insight in to some proper hardware. Filters sound amazing. I wonder how it compares to the arturia prophet.
whats the next video going to be on??
Cheers Erol
P.s Is this a new studio?

Looks very nice, I saw a video from NAMM showing a new keyboard version of the Mopho from DSI. Very similar I think to the prophet08 only it has a single voice.

A lot cheaper to at $800, no doubt the $->£ will shaft us UKers though.

Interestingly i have the Arturia Prophet and although i like it very much i find it fiddly to work with due to the small size of the plug-in and all the mousing around i have to do.
Sound wise - i used the Prophet 8 on a track today and it really filled a hole in the mix where i couldn't get the plug-in to work - Quite a simple sound i used but it cut through the mix like a knife.
For the next review i have couple of options - there's the new Pioneer CDJ 900 which really appeals to me, or i could let you guys look at the Thermionic Culture Vulture distortion/compressor which i've just got hold of and it's simply amazing!
You know what, i'm gonna start and new thread in the next few days and let you guys decide -)

Lovin the new home for tech heads - A great review and I look forward to further instalments from Mr Ramirez!
Sadly, I don't own the the prophet but I do have Arturia & NI Prophet software plugs which to my ears sound cool but you can't beat owning the hardware!

Very nice dude, warm analogue goodness! Well reviewed! At least this way people can see and hear it being put through its paces, magazines are all good but seeing it in action is a lot better.
I'd like a peek at the culture vulture myself, i'm in the market for a quality compressor, but the 900 would be very interesting too....There's only one way to find out........FIGHT! :)

Nice review Dean. Thank You. Would you see the arpeggiator as being difficult to program on this keyboard, and would you see it as something you would use in your productions (arpeggiator I mean?)

I would find that a lot more interesting than a CDJ. I don't think I've ever seen a video of one being properly reviewed or put through it's paces.
