I make House, Tech House using Logic 9 out of the box. But its time for some plug ins.

In which order do you think I should purchase the following? My drums are ok for the time being but will need some expansion for future productions. I have my eye on the following:

1)UAD-2 Solo
2)Spectrasonics Trilian Total Bass
3)Spectrasonics Omnisphere
4)Battery 2

I can only afford one a month so your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers

uhmm, i dont quite get it what you want.
You want drum samples?? bass samples???
If you want a drum machine style plug in i would recommend FxPansion Guru. Batery is also very good, its just a matter of trying both and see wich one fits you better.

If you want drums samples or drums hits i recommend Vengeance series and Sample Magic ones.

About bass, i think you should go or trillian or omnisphere. Trillian is just basses with a great variety of real and synth bass. Omnisphere has a more vast library of sounds, basses, synths, pads, leads, atmospheres, its a very good all-in-one solution.

But i have to say that if you dont want to spend a lot of money, just use Logic plug-ins and library, its fantastic and top quality.

Yeah whenever I read future music or watch vids/hear producers talking, they all use native logic plugs for loads of stuff. Its one reason I entertain the thought of switching from Live every so often, before the thought of learning a new DAW and the cost of PC's with a mac-badge sway me back again!

Make the music, think about what you want, how it should sound, the feel you want, the textures and use logic. Buy plug-ins to achieve something you want, but cant do with logic alone.

Otherwise your just making life harder for yourself in terms actually making music, even if though toys do look like fun!

Also a lot of people overlook the Ultrabeat Drum machine built into Logic which is perfectly capable of doing all the drum duties you need - there are also loads of tuitions available from places like Future Music and Mac Pro Video if you can't get your head around it. My all time fav though is FXpansions Guru.

Trillion is indeed good for bass but there's also Rob Papens Subboombass plug-in which is also great for all things bass (although a little less epic sounding)

Omnisphere is definitely a must for everybody's studio no matter what music you make

I am a massive user of the UAD plugs and have been using them since their conception in 2000 - it's the nearest thing to Pro Tolls quality without spending Pro Tools money.

Ramirez, any advice you give I follow. Really appreciate you responding. I've just bought Omnisphere and Trillian. My friends wont be seeing me for a while as you can imagine!

Thanks :)

Hmm.. I dont really know much about omnisphere so what makes it one of the key things to have D. ? Right now my main synth is Nexus+Predator and very happy with nexus especially..
