Hi all , as the title says , I'm after any information on what to do once your music has been mastered. I've recently finished a project that I have been working on and now am hoping to get my music out there , possibly on a label , but don't have a clue where to start.

Is anyone else on here in the same situation or just managed to get your track on a label ??

Any help please would be great!!

Thanks , Paul.

Take the bull by the horns dude and send it to some labels in the genre of your music, often via soundcloud. Be courtious, polite and not too long winded when contacting labels.

Have a good look around myspace and soundcloud but more importantly your own tracks - look at what label they're on and look them up online.

Or dig into starting your own label. Just don't go all suge knight on it!!

Out of interest, how did you go about mastering the tracks, did you do it yourself or get someone to do it for you?

I think I'm a step or two behind you :)

Hi River , Well I'm in the studio tomorrow . I'm having a 4 hour lesson in this studio and during the last hour he's going to master my track , so my track is not mastered yet , but will be tomorrow . I just wanted to try and get one step ahead so I know what to do next.
I've spent the last year trying to master my own music and have got no where with it, so decided to leave it to someone who knows what they are doing .Now i can concentrate on trying to make more tracks.

Be careful who you give the tune out to - labels are less likely to sign a track if the 320 copy has done the rounds all over cyberspace.

The best way (like have been said) it is to find a label and send to them demo(128kbps or just some preview) of your track.
There is a couple webpages where you can find hell's of labels ))
http://www.allrecordlabels.com/db/genres/
http://www.residentadvisor.net/labels.aspx - like this one, you can find here myspace page of label you're looking for and also email adress etc.

use beatport to find some of your favorite labels ;)

Hi River , well the mastering didn't happen!! I paid for a four hour lesson on mixing your track and preparing it for when it is mastered . Very interesting stuff , learned a lot from it and it was good to find out from someone who knows what he's on about . I think the best thing that I learned from it is , dont worry about if your mix isn't loud , get it sounding right and leave the rest to the sound engineer!! Plus I've spent ages trying to make a nice sounding kick drum by layering and he managed to find the sound i wanted from simply eq'ing a single 808 Kick !!Back over to the studio this wednesday to get it mastered , fingers crossed I'll come home with a finished product!!

In my experience i tend not to send full song to labels, i have heard bad stories of labels rejecting peoples songs and then a year later people have found there song has been released under a name that they have never heard of (EG the label ripped them off). But im not too sure how common that is, i would just send a 96k track out to labels with a 320kbps clip of that track aswell so then they can hear the full quality in the clip but then they can hear the whole track in lower quality less likely to get it ripped off that way :)

But personally i would not like to take the label route unless it was a label that was very good at marketing tracks in your genre but if you just want to get your music out there i recommend this site.

http://www.dittomusic.com/

It's amazing for getting your music released and the best thing is you get 100% of the cash so no payments to the label or agents!!! and you also get paid for doing live performances aswell!!

There is another site aswell which i heard is quite good, let me dig it up....

http://en.rebeat.com/home.html

This site slightly different you have to download a program which you pay for and then upload your music to there servers to be released.

But it all depends which route you want to take Label route or Yourself route.

Hope this helps!!!

Take it easy.
Paul.
